Description

Production process

  • Final step in cell production
  • Process aims at for quality assurance
  • Cell characteristics performance are monitored over a period of up to three weeks: Regular measurment of open circuit voltage (OCV)
  • Aging differentiation: High temperature (HT) and normal temperature (NT) aging; usual againg sequence: first, HT aging and, then, NT aging
  • Storage in so-called aging shelves and/or towers
  • Quality assurance: No significant change in the cell properties over the entire period of time
  • Aging duration depends strongly on cell manufacturer and used chemistry

Process parameters & requirements

  • State of charge of the cell at the beginning of aging: 80 % - 100 % SOC
  • Aging time: up to 3 weeks
  • Normal temperature approx. 22°C, high temperature approx. 30°C - 50°C

Technology alternatives

  • Different procedures for sequence and duration of HT and NT aging (depending on cell manufacturer chemistry).

Quality influences

  • Orientation of cells
  • Packing density of the cell good carriers
  • Ambient temperature

Quality features

  • Capacity
  • Internal resistance
  • Self-discharge rate
